Joan Oller Guzmán (Barcelona, 1984) holds a PhD in Ancient History from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. His doctoral study consisted of a historical-archaeological analysis of the territory and settlement of the region of Layetania Interior (present-day Barcelona) in ancient times.

Since then, his lines of research have focused on landscape archaeology and territorial studies in Roman times.

Thus, he participates as director of several archaeological interventions in the PATCA project in the eastern Pyrenees. At the same time, since 2013 he directs the PROTA research project in the region of Montes de Oca (Burgos).

Finally, also since 2013 he participates as archaeologist in the Greco-Roman site of Berenike and since 2016 he directs the Sikait Project, a project of archaeological interventions in the Egyptian Eastern Desert. He is currently Associate Professor at the Departament de Ciències de l’Antiguitat i l’Edat Mitjana of the same university.
